The Problems of a Career based on a Life Purpose

Not so long ago we didn’t have many options when it came to having a career. I guess the word ‘career’ itself wasn’t very well-known. Career. Boys just became what their father was or were sent to a master to learn a craft. Girls found a caring position, either as mother or servant. There were not too many options and although I guess enough people were unhappy with their fate, you did what you had to do. The Shift: Choosing from the Mind Things changed. Education became more widely available. Social classes became less visible and education was open for everyone, until the son of the doctor sat next to the son of the butcher. And then women were also …

Ending a long-term relationship – 30 days later

Ending a long term relationship – 30 days later

Today it is exactly one month ago that my partner and I decided to break up. We were in a temporary break for two months, after a relationship of almost nine years, including three kids. As the relationship wasn’t serving either of us anymore, we decided to break up. A delicate process of unraveling a lot of patterns, dependencies, projections and assumptions. And not just between my now ex-partner and I, but also between the outer world and I. Patterns in reactions I guess a similar thing happens in all major events in a human life. When a baby is born, when someone has a cold or when a relative dies, we always ask the same questions, or come up …

The Unexpected (emotional) Side Effects of Crowdfunding

The Unexpected (emotional) Side Effects of Crowdfunding

I launched crowdfunding campaign. You might have noticed it. I did expect reactions from people. People who would want to help out, and people who wouldn’t. But I didn’t expect that much reaction from inside me. Is this desire allowed? It all started with a desire. In my case, a desire for space for my own. Our house is small. We have three kids packed in one room, a tiny work space that my partner, his computer and administration files occupy. My space is a desk in the living room. The same living room where my kids play and fight and where people come and go. I’m the kind of person who needs time and space alone to stay sane. …

“How was your weekend?” What do you tell at the coffee machine?

how was your weekend?

Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to have an office job and meet my colleages on a Monday morning at the coffee machine, and being asked what my weekend was like. What would I answer? What would I not tell? What would I exaggerate? What would I feel insecure about? What would i brag about? Would I say something like: “My weekend was pretty okay. Went to a birthday party, met some friends in the city, had dinner with girlfriends and went to a Christmas market with my family.” Or something like: “My weekend was crazily intense! Dressed up as a panther for a sexy birthday party. Had a sleepover at my lovers’. Went to an eye-gazing experience …

Do you let thoughts get in the way of your Life Purpose?

Life Purpose

Yesterday my thoughts tried everything to make me eat the things I don’t want to eat during my detox. There were many, many reasons to eat cheese, chocolate and nuts. I ended up eating a tomato. I woke up this morning with thoughts telling me I was failing this detox. I ate too much, I didn’t exercise enough and my body was just doing what I want it to do. Especially with the things I really want to do, the things alligned with my life purpose, my thoughts try to disctract me. Try to make me do other things. Telling me I’m too tired, not capable, I need to do other things first. I’ll do the things I really want …

Why I’m experimenting with Multi-Level marketing (MLM)

Multi Level Marketing

What is Multi-Level Marketing? Multi-Level Marketing is a business model in which products are not sold in a store after passing the chain of factory – wholesale – retail – shop. Instead, products are sold directly from the factory through promotion by independent people, also called partners, who promote the product to people in their social circles. Partners are not employed by the company, and instead of a fixed salary they receive a percentage of the income they generate for the company. Costumers either just buy the products, or they actively participate by recommending the products to their social circles, creating an income stream for themselves too. Other terms for Multi-Level Marketing are Referral Marketing and Network Marketing. Why is …

How 2014 changed my life

Wilrieke wild side

Now this would be a title I could use each year, because each year will gift chances and changes. But in several ways 2014 felt like a tilting-point-kind-of-year. You know, that feeling that you built towards something, and suddenly the critical mass has been reached and the balance tips over. That kind of feeling. There is one word that can describe this whole shift for me: abundance. Now you probably know the Law of Attraction, how we can attract everything we desire into our lives by believing it’s already there. Although I have been working on creating abundance for longer, the difference is that I now really feel abundant. I can feel a deepened trust in myself and the world. …

Reasons for procrastination and tools to stop doing it

Reasons for procrastination and tools to stop doing it

Postponing starting or finishing an intended task or action that often includes an effort or something we don’t like much again and again, despite realizing we’ll be worse off. Procrastination. Most of us do it and most of us hate it. In the previous article, we explored what procrastination is and how it can guide you. In this article I want to look at some reasons why we procrastinate when we are working on our own goals, and give you tools to stop doing it. Negative self-talk and low self-esteem The key factor contributing to procrastination are limiting beliefs and a low self-esteem. We tend to train our brain with affirmation like – I can’t do this – I’m a …

Your Procrastination is your Guide

Your Procrastination is your Guide

In university my friends and I would call it study-avoiding-behavior or simply ‘sabbing’: hour after hour of talking, sitting and watching birds, or listening to Jacques Brel and drinking French wine. We tried to postpone that moment of grabbing our study books as long as we dared, sometimes until the night before a test. Nowadays it is my largest frustration: spending precious minutes trying to not do the things I want to do. Well actually, it’s my single largest frustration. What frustrates me the most is my resistance and self-judgment towards procrastination. Why do we procrastinate? Why do we keep ourselves from the things we want to do? Is procrastination a bad thing, or is it a sign from deep …
